Title: Today was Milltek Friday
Post by: gazbutmk5gti on 23 May 2008, 18:03
At last the downpipe arrived, so got the full TBE Milltek fitted today, in the resonated variety.

First impressions are its no louder than standard, but has a deeper note and the fit is prety good, likin the tailpipes

I didn't think it would be possible to make the car any more responsive after the fuel pump and re-map, but the exhaust has, it really is eager

While I was there there was a bloke havin the APR system fitted to his Seat Leon, the quality of the system is fantastic, all mandrel bent with very little welding and I was starting to think I'd made a mistake, until we both started our cars, The APR system is much louder, some people might want that, but I do alot of motorway driving so quieter is better for me.

Also Jim took me out in Cupra that had had the stage 3+ big turbo conversion, about 370bhp I think, very impresssive, very smooth and driveable, with very little lag and a massive top-end surge.

Had a drive in an early(54 plate) regular GTi that had the K04 conversion on it, running 335bhp, which was very impressive, and ther're not sure why there getting more power out of what is really an ED30 conversion then a remapped ED30, although the early regular GTi has slightly higher compression and different piston crowns apparantly so this could be it.

So overall quite an exciting afternoon and I'm well pleased with me new exhaust

Yes, a fairly new 1 could even have been a 57 plate, it had eibach coilovers and AP 6 pots with BIG discs, so was pretty sorted.

The K04 converted car was pretty impressive

Just been for a longer drive, and the Milltek has really made a massive difference to the throttle response and there is deffo more top end pull.
Called in at Awesome to pick my old system up and commented on what a difference it had made and it turns out the fuel pump specific map I have installed is designed to be run with large bore down pipe and sports cat which I now have
It will run fine with standard exhausts, which it did, but to get the full benefits it needs the downpipe which explains why its made so much difference

Better start saving for more tyres

I remember when I first fitted mine, it does make a huge difference. Losing the second CAT must be the biggest change, can't believe how strangled standard cars are.

think its 499+ the dreaded, the map is free if u have APR software already, not sure what the score is if you don't

Its 30 minute job for the fuel pump, then about the same for the remap
