Hey guys,
Im trying to wire up my head unit so that its off when the ignitions off and on when the ignitions on like most cars as mine is currently on all the time unless i turn the thing off manually.
Basically I have no idea where i can wire it to easily. I was wondering if i could chop this yellow and black cable, and then wire both the heated rear window switch and my head unit to the same source?

Both my head units red and yellow cables are currently both together so i think that putting the yellow one on a switched source from the ignition would allow me to do what I want?
If not or if anyone has a better place/way could you please let me know!
Cheers,
Dec

Depends on what spec your head unit is. If its a basic one then go for the any live feed that doesnt have a high current drawing component coming from it, i.e the heaters and fans, otherwise the safest and more electically sound way to do it is to get a direct fused live feed from the battery. This way if your head unit goes bang, you'll only blow the inline fuse, and not potentially blow other fuses and components :)

Hmm im not sure tbh my head unit has a fuse on the back!
Going to connect one of the wires that needs a 12v source to the ignition switch somehow but the other one is going to stay going to the battery.

Oh sorry Dec didnt read your post properly. Right to find an ignition live you need a multimeter. First things first, you got one? Behind you dash it think the blue wire for the stereo is your igntion live, check this becomes live when you turn the key one turn. If that aint there then find the thickest wire that becomes live and splice into that with your red wire from the hu.

I'd say you're better off to take the ignition off the fan blower controls.
