Title: Tempreture Sensor -NEED HELP PLEASE
Post by: admc6 on 22 May 2008, 13:05
I have the goot old cutting out problem

I have changed pretty much everything now and i'm onto the tempreture sensor.
The car cut out when the revs drop, but only when the car gets warm. I had a look and its about when the oil reaches 60.

Is this tempreture sensor the air intake tempreture sensor or the coolant one?

I hope to order this this afternoon

Undo the Four pin plug,  Pull out the retaining clip and pop it out,  Take the o-ring out, it somtimes remains in the hole.  Plug the new one in with the 0-ring,  push the clip back in and reconect the cables.

Let us know if it sortes the probelm

Its been on but it doesnt come up with any faults.

I have been out again to check the vacuum hoses for any leak but still cant see anything

With it cutting out at the same oil temp all the time, does anyone think it could be the oil pressure sensor? I have read it may cause the problem. Although saying that i was looking in my bentley, and if you read it doesnt mention a sensor, only switches

No the Oil pressure sensor is just for the warning lights doesnt effect the ECU.

I thought so. It was just in the cutting out thread. Just been having a read but no closer to discovering the problem.

Engine speed senser, a very common cause of cutting out and it might not register a fault code. Also even if a vac hose looks ok they can become brittle in areas you might not be able to see, i'd just swap them all for silicone stuff, its pretty cheap off the bay.

Maybe you should write out a list of what you've changed/replaced so far so we can narrow it down.

The speed sensor is new (well a year old) and looks ok to me. Will start a new post with  it
