Yep
Big Picture (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/neil.gibbs3/images/gti/may2008/frntqtr.JPG) so linked it rather that fill the thread
If black I would get it all done, of white or red I would suggest doing what WhiteGTI has done, leaving the centre bit black - I think it add to the look
I would also be tempted to get some smoothed R32 side skirts and get those painted - you can get a set for around £70 and they will take the paint better - my original GTI skirts started to peel.
-
Hummm this is on my MUST do list. How much does it cost to get them all colour coded up?

The whole lot cost me around £450. I have had the bumpers wet-primed - meaning that the "bobbled" plastic effect has been smoothed out.

I was gonna do this when i had my GTI....i just never got round to doing it

Thanks for the info mate, I take it most decent body work places will do this then and for around the same sort of price? I want a proper job done. First two mods that I want to do have added up to £1000 already lol :(

I got this done at a place in Maidenhead, Berkshire. They were more than happy to do the wet-priming. However, first of all I tried a recommended Porsche Approved bodyshop in Hertfordshire, however they said that the "smoothing" effect was unable to be achieved without purchasing new, already smoothed parts.
I guess it depends on the particular bodyshop you go to. I would recommend Parkford in Maidenhead. (don't worry, they don't specialse in Ford, their name is just coincidental. They are Windrush Volkswagen's recommended bodyshop.)
Chris.

Ah right, thats not a million miles away. If I call my local stealer would they not be able to point me in the right direction of their recommended bodyshop as it will be much much closer to me?

Yeah definitely! Hopefully the bodyshop they recommend is up to the challenge!

Top man ! again thanks for info. Just got to save up a bit now (which seems impossible as everytime I get more money, everything I buy from onions to petrol seems to go up in price).

Nice

I'd love to get mine done, particularly the rear bumper. The local VW bodyshop said they'd do it but wouldn't guarantee it against peeling and the reason I went to them was precisely to avoid this possibility.
Of course I could probably find a bodyshop who would guarantee it but then tell me to **** off if I have a problem (that's why I wanted the VW dealer to do it). Frankly them saying they wouldn't guarantee it has put me off getting it done.
However, if by chance anyone in the Southend area has had this done some time ago (I intend keeping the car a long while) and no problems I'd appreciate knowing where.

I reckon, if you have the cash, buy R32 pre primed shirts (let me know of the cost from your dealer/souce, as I picked some up for £25 each) and then a front 30th aniversary spoiler (£300, but worth it) as that is pre primed. Then you only have to worry about the rear being sanded down, that said the Oettinger rear valance is nice, if you have the cash
-
Nice one guys ....loving RedRobin's mods...really nice touch

Skirts are £170 a side now. I rang 3 dealers and even vagparts

....That can't be!! A whole R32 rear spoiler only costs £138 (incl vat)!! - I've just bought one recently. I paid about £50 for both my primed R32 sides.

....Thankyou!! The compliment is appreciated

I will phone a friend and get back to you with where he got them from for me. They were cheap as I have done the sides twice now. The first time the bodyshop i used baked them and they warped, so when I changed my standard front GTI spoiler for the aniversary one I had them done again and asked them not to put them in the oven or a least do it at a lesser temp. They came out fine

It had been an error on the vw system for a long while. Now corrected. To be honest they are priced about right now. For example, ed30 front splitter £300 + vat, rear valance £395 + vat so £170 for primed skirts seems about right. MK4 r32 skirts were over £200 a side
-
yep, to my suprise that was exactly what I was told today
-
....Jeeeze!! I paid about £50 for my pair of R32 sides! £170 each side makes my new carbonfibre rear VW badge (including refundable lock!) for £176 seem very cheap!!. It'll probably cost me £100 including fitting.

RedRobin where did yo uget your carbon bits from?

RedRobin where did yo uget your carbon bits from?
He bought them through the TT shop. The make is OSIR, same make as mine. His front VW badge isn't available anymore
