Title: RCD 500 - audio outputs?

hi all, newbie here! Bought a 2007 EOS which has an RCD500 with the 6 disc changer in dash (non-mp3 version). Anyone know if the 2007 series VW's have pre-outs off the rear of the standard head units?

Now I can't be bothered to cleansweep it, not going complicated with it at all, no headunits I JUST want a bit of bass, hence an active sub thrown in the boot for it, but i need both the remote and preout signals for it off the OEM head unit. before I go ripping out the headunit and testing pins etc, has anyone already done this with any other VW stereos and if so which adapters should I be looking for?

Sorry I should have specified, I live in Dubai and th dealers here have about as much knowledge on the audio products as a pork pie with no filling!  :rolleyes:

This has been banged about in the MK5 section before. I cant for the life of me remember now lol. I've got a feeling it doesnt that you need to get an aftermarket HU but dont quote me on it. Stick this thread in the MK5 section and Im sure someone will know for sure. The MK5 boys are far to shy to leave their own section so most of them wont see this post.

Im sure the vibe and other active subs can take input straight from speaker level sources?

Woooo a really shy Mk5 boy here..... I have the RNS 500 CD Sat Nav and it don't have any Pre Outs. I ventured into an Audio shop on my last visit to the UK and the guy told me there was a product which turned the speaker output into a signal which wouls be OK to use as an in put for an Amp (not sure how good this would be). Hope this helps!

Not meaning to hijack the thread but does anyone know if current RCD 500 units have other outputs? I've just ordered a new golf with it and am hoping to get VW to add an ipod adapter to it but not at the expense of losing the cd changer.

Did you find out if the RCD 500 has preouts?

Got one in my new Gti and I'd like to do the same as you for the time being.

^^^ No it doesn't have any pre-out's, you will either need a specific adapter (like Metra 74-9003) or a Line level converter  :smiley:
