I'm undecided on wether to have the mudflaps on or off...? I'm not sure. I have them on at the moment:

What do you guys think?
-
Id say leave them, i didnt even notice you had them on the other pics you have posted recently.
If they were those long floppy ones that flap around in the wind when your driving then id have said yes.
-
Hmmm...only thing I'm thinking is it will look cleaner without them...?
-
there hardly noticable so keep them as the ammount of crap your car will pick up without!!
-
I will admit, they do save crap from spraying onto the rear bodywork.
-
My dads got some on his motor and it doesnt stop the back from getting dirty like my golf which doesnt have flaps.
Infact my last two cars havent had flaps and its not bad at all.
It does stop crap from spraying up the sides of the car behind the front wheels though.

Nah, they look fine.
Only time you may be forced to remove them is if you lower it, i mean i couldnt have flaps even if i wanted to because they would just scrape along the road all the time
-
Well thanks guys, I'll leave them on then, plus it's too much hassle. I gotta take the wheels off to do it lol!
-
get rid
-
seconded.... flaps are for people that tow caravans
-
Oh you buggers lol! HAHA! Now I'm reconsidering. If I can get more people to agree with you then I'll do it.
-
take em off
-
take them off dude, car will look less clutered. I had some on mine but taking them off was the first thing I did.
-
Need more support to take them off lol! Come on guys, help a fellow dubber, not convinced just yet.
-
ah come on shady, why do you need them? tell me they are not bbs rx as well? you know those wheels will be crying inside don't you?
-
Your car would look loads better with out.
-
I don't need them lol! but I reckon once I've taken them off the car will look naked lol! And they are BBS RXs...what are you referring to? The inside rim being dirty as hell?
-
bbs are alergic to mudflaps, it says so on the german tuv approval form.
-
Well I'm just gonna have to take them off aren't I
Bloody hell that means taking off each flipping wheel lol!
-
Take them off!
-
ah the story emerges, suspension to fit too, stop messing
-
Well jv lol! I'm putting GTI suspension on the car as I can't afford to buy and insure myself with it lowered properly. So I'm cheating for 20mm lol!
-
it's all about the 20mm...
-
Better than what I got now
-
no.... yes... no..... yeah keep 'em...... actually no i dont like them. but i want to keep them ...... nahh there sh!te!!!
Stuck in 2 minds, sucks m8!!!!! we have all been there. What do you do, get everyone else to make the decision for you
I voted no, but i had a good long think before voting.
LL ;)
-
LOL, I've just realised my sig has changed. JV, was that you?! LOL!
I'll keep it on for good measure lol!
-
Keep 'em if you like stone chip free paint!
I've kept mine purely for the practical reasons although they do make the car look even lower!
As for removing them - you don't need to take the wheels off at all! :afro:
-
How do you get them off without taking the wheels off then?
-
The rears should just be screwed on the bumper with self tappers so you can get in there with a phillips head screw driver either at an angle or just get a short one.
The front are just allen key tightened clamps, you'll probably be able to just pull them off but if you can't spray them with WD40 the night before then grab some grips (to stop the clamps turning) and an allen key to slacken them off, at worst you'll just have to turn the wheel to give you more access!
Easy peasy!!
-
i removed mine the day i got her......with the ramps at work being to high  they would of pulled the whole back bumper off if i didnt  (HATE RAMPS REALLY HATE RAMPS) they dont do my coilovers any good what so ever..............(sorry getting side tracked will shut up now)
up to you dude..... just think theres the disadvantage of extra weight
slowing you down
-
Thanks 88, will give it a go on the weekend most likely.
mush, you are right, and seeing as it's a 1.8, I should get loadsa more umph out of it  lol!
-
seconded.... flaps are for people that tow caravans

-

-

have you rang them to see what they say in terms of cost etc? it might not be too much more.
You could make it sound like you need to replace the shocks and springs anyway, but have come across some GTI suspension for cheap instead of it being a 'modification'. Just a thought.

i was going to mention that but i wasnt sure if you were going down the lowering route......anyway coilovers get my vote...
80mm drop and that would be pure sex sir

i like the low look with the rally mud flaps, looks cool, not sure about those ones, also get the wheels on spacers, so its low, wide, with chunky flaps. looks cool.
