As in mk2 and 3 GTi's, lets say 16v versions.
Apart from the cc size do they share any of the same parts or are they totally redesigned for the newer mk3's?
Id go for them having lots of the same parts? am i right
Im a VW noob
p.s this is purely out of interest.

As far as i know they hardly share any parts if any.

They have the exact same name and share no engine parts, right o

They hardly share any parts to be honest, from what I remember from working in Tsr the newer engine in both 8v amd 16v form is a taller block also they both breath through the block where the older engines breath through the heads, however you can adapt and use a 2.0 bottom end with a older 1.8 head if you so wish and have seen that done loads of times.
I hope this helps, worked in Tsr for 4 years when Tim Stiles was the boss, so do know a little bit about them to be honest.
Maybe you could tell me why mine keeps going wrong then???? Please?

Hoping you would say that is a problem with the AGG engine, not the driver! DOH!
