Hello!
After much thought between component and coax speakers...
I picked these babies up on the weekend as I still have standard speakers in my mk2.

I was wondering where to install the crossover devices ??
(dont want them visible for obvious reasons!)
Thanks in advance,
G

on the back of the door panels?
-
I thought about that, but the crossovers comes with a little switch for adjusting the tweeter level.
So i guess they have to be hidden, yet acceccible?
-
You'll set them up once and never touch them again
-
Trust me, if you're amping them you don't want the switch to +3db. They are harsh enough as it is on 0 lol!
-
Thanks guys,
So, behind the door panels with switch on 0db it is!
How would you suggest i clamp these on the doors? Trusty tape!?
-
Well they are quite light so some good double sides sticky tape would be good I reckon, or some small small screws?
As with the DB thing, you'll know what I mean about the harshness once they are hooked up, you'll no doubt turn the treble down lol! Don't get me wrong, they are a cracking pair of speakers and I'm well chuffed with mine, only some songs can...hurt lol!

I have these components and have mounted them high up in the foot well so you can’t see them from outside the car either. They are never kicked or get in the way so I think it's a good & practical location.
If you do want to change the tweeter level you can (mine is on +3 db on passenger side) And if you make changes to your setup or they go wrong then they are easy to get to and less hassle + quicker to mount than inside the door cards. You will be really impressed with the difference they make.
Make sure you make a nice air tight enclosure for them in the door cards as it makes them sound far punchier.
I will post pics up:

Ah cheers James,
I was wondering if i had made a wrong decision in buying these!
I heard them in my neighbour's Type R and they sounded really clean..
Putting the larger speakers in the standard mk2 door pods!
I will dynamat the doors too...
James pictures would be v helpful mate!

Camera phone pics to show location of crossovers, in fact these pictures are so bad that you probably can't see what's going on, I can take proper pics with a proper camera later today:

One shows amp for the front and rear speakers also in the footwell which doesn't take any leg room away either and isn't visible from outside. (I have a strange oldish Sony Headunit that isn't amped )
I was slightly lazy and wasn't as thorough as dynamat-ing!
For the back of the door pods i just used quite thick plastic, 4 small screws and some sealer to make them airtight behind the speaker, seems to do the job. I like the look of a standard system + theiving b******* can't see there is anything to pinch!

Nice one james,
That looks like a decent job mate!
Did you screw the crossovers into the footwell?
Yeah man definitely wana keep that stuff hidden from the w**nkers!
-
As they are so light I havn't screwed into the metal of the footwell. I have just used quite wide short screws which bite into the soft sound deadening stuff and they have been fine for almost a year and are still secure.
