Title: Mk1 Engine Transplant

I'm pretty new to the scene and would like to know what kind of engine you can fit into a '83 Mk1 Golf GTI Cabrio.

And if anyone has one for sale at a reasonable price. I'm also quite interested. I would be looking for a engine with injectors and the inlets.

I am a total newbie, please be gentle...

i suppose the obvious chioce would be a mk2 16v lump, which should be pretty straight forward job.  

some people like to put VR6 engines in, and i think there was a MK4  turbo jobby in a magazine a while back - so really you can put in what you like, just need to find the expertise to do it.
