Now, as some of you will know I have long been an admirer of the mk3 and am now looking at a vr6. I am wondering what sort of mpg folks are getting out of them?
-
Between 25-40 (ish) with my valver!
-
25- 32 is about the best you can expect from a VR. THrash it everywhere and you'll be looking at high teens low twenties!!!!!

the valver does have a distinct lack of two pistons compared to the VR6 .. However i think its safe to say you will also get better than 25 mpg i cant see it being less can 25, but then 40 could be a real push i think 30ish is about right for when taking it easy.

Depends how many things i hit on the journey, but generally around 30/40 in the 8v.
So again, wouldnt expect more than 30 in a vr6.

theres only one way to see a VR6 look away when it comes to mpg , look for a mint vr6 highline and enjoy the raw of them !! love the sound they make .

Usually 18-20mpg town driving which is mostly stop/start and in the high 30's whn on the motorway.

Thanks Daz, thats the answer I wanted pal.

To be honest any golf isnt going to break the bank fuel wise, nothing you wouldnt expect from any 2.0 car.
Personally ive come from a 1.8 escort gti to my 2.016v golf and theres no difference in fuel consumption, which i was impressed with considering its a bigger engine, more power and done nearly twice the mileage of my escort

Mr P!sstake Andy again! I will change my blue lights if you ever buy a Mk3!
(had my fingers crossed so not really!)

On a chilled out drive last night from Cardiff to Bristol i got a might 45.1 MPG, was well impressed, that was doin a cool 65mph all the way!!!
-
sorry that was Mighty*
and mines a 16v

When mine is running and i give it some, which is very hard not too, i get about 19/20. When driving as one should i get any where up to 35 around town.
