Mk2 is def quick enough, its the Mk3 8v thats not.

In the 8v's defence it has a very usuable and tractable engine that does not need revving to get going, unlike some of the modern hatches that are all about top end.

I agree, a lot of the modern 16v engines only start to really pull between 4k - 7k at around 6500 there isn't much left on a standard engine.

My 8v will pull straight threw from 1k to around 6k no problem

I was playing with a Civic last night, on corners he wansnt that clever, as soon as we hit a straight he passed me.  I was doing around 90 tho so go figure.

It's the driver sometimes lol.

The 8v isn't as quick as the 16v, but it's still bloody quick.  Besides, many of todays "hot" hatches are getting heavier and have a cat to slow em down.
