Title: carbon canister - removal
Post by: GavGti on 17 May 2008, 22:19
heard this can be removed
any tips/pics/advice/help

if it isn't a major job ie: disconnect few pipes, bolts etc then prob fine with it, just never looked closely at golf before, i'm a vauxall man previously

if it's removed i should have room for cold air feed if i'm right

Well yes, mine is still firmly fixed to the car, but it has a gaping hole in it, so its not working, and yeah, it can be removed, as the car runs fine without it.

Best to remove the bumper to get to it
then just connect the in and out pipes up. And bobs your uncle and fannys you aunt. I still have mine connected, but with a hole in it, and it runs fine. Its a bit sluggish but i think it needs new plugs etc. Not c/canister related.

hi, disconnect plug from unit on arch and then remove tubes from canister, discard canister and plug the black hose to stop fuel vapour entering bay- hey presto!
