Ello,
Anyone know if its possible to get these from dealers?
I managed to get some genuine mk2 door handles today but they dont have the gaskets or the center plastic/metal strip that runs within the handle?
Thanks,
G

When you say 'didn't have', do you mean they didn't have any in stock?
They'll need to order the parts in as not many VW dealerships hold parts for 20 year old motors!

Long story mate, dealers only sell the whole door locks with barrells as a package only etc.
I managed to find a guy who can get me the handles only from vw, damn things arrived without the gaskets and centre strip thingies though!
Was just wondering if they would have these parts separately??
The dudes at the are on crack, always come back with different answers everytime you call :undecided:

If you're struggling, I have 2 spare gaskets if its any use?
(That's if the gaskets are what I think they are  )
Edit- Actually I'm not sure if they're the gaskets
Are they like the rubbery bits of plastic are about 5mm high and that go around the plastic of the door handle?
Sorry, brains not functioning, it's late

Yes Mark,
You got it spot on mate, thats it at the base of the handles, the plastic washeresque pieces!
They in decent condition dude?

I got my genuine door handles from the dealers a few weeks back, supplied without the locks, £16.00 each .. seals and strips also available for a few quid extra, although black strips are now made from plastic, instead of powder coated stainless steel... Don't forget to load the handle with grease for a dead smooth operation, and also stops em rattling :nerd:

Instead of fitting the plastic 'gaskets', fit armoured door plates. About 20 quid for a pair and adds break in protection for your car!
As for the centre strips, rare as rocking horse doo doo. You may need to lift a couple from a scrappy and if they are too faded, just spray them satin black.

They seem alright dude, nowt wrong with them from what I can see. I'd put them on my car!
Just got them with some handles a while back cos I needed the mechanism.
If you want, I'll get pics so you know they're the right thing?

Thanks Guys,
story of my life, buy one part and then im always missing something else!
Mark if you could send us some pics that would be awesome dude?
As for the plastics in the center, i was bored and popped into halfords this afternoon. I already have the strips on the door handle and when the staff wernt looking i sprayed a matt black aerosol can on it, looked good!
Do i need to primer the plastic strips first? Sorry if i sound stupid but i havent done something myself before!
What colour do you guys reckon? Satin Black....Matt Black? My brother reckons I should paint them red to go into the black/red gti theme, but i have a feeling that the car might end up looking quite chavvy!?
Darnpistonbroke you recommend the satin?
Thanks all,
Goops
