Red's GTI is looking

Are you going to put the centre caps back on???  I think they would finish it off

Yes his front splitter is looking tired, his cars done quite a few thousand miles now, Robin did say hes gonna get it sorted along with the alloys in the near future.
One thing i noticed is how bright in comparision the Red on My Car was to robins. Whether its because mines 18 months newer, or theyve changed the Red from the earlier models?

You can see the diff in the pics too when they are side by side, that MK4 R32 looks mean on them 19's(are they).

Red needs to get some bug remover for the front of his car, lots of dead stuff on there!

Phil I really like the look of your car, perfectly clean, well polished and those wheels suit it spot on. Nice car IMO.

....Great to meet you again, Phil  and glad you enjoyed meeting a few Tyresmokers - I'll post a link to here in the TSN Meets forum.

Lots of questions to answer!! ....

Dan's Biali Motorsport Mk4 R32 is much loved and modded - Let's not tell him how cool his car is though . Dan's a great guy and always a big laugh - I best not say I've hung out with him in case his (hot!) girlfriend gets jealous . Yes, k4eith, they're BBS 19's.

Just a few inevitable paint chips on the front splitter - Easily put right in due course.

No, the Tornado Red is the same colour spec as the Mk1/2 originals. My car hasn't been washed for a fortnight and done a few miles this week, so it looks dull but is just masking dirt. Or rather the dirt is masking the throbbin' red! I don't want toscare the ladies, do I - Though I know that this wouldn't scare our very own fair lady enthusiast Dinx.

Centre caps? - Long story already posted but long story short - I've removed them all cos I got fed up with losing one and the others have white worm. I've really got to stop getting so excited about my car and stop masturbating all over the alloys!

WTF have you done to my number plate Phil?

I know this may sound like a stupid/obvious qyuestion, but is everyone reasonably close to Portsmouth then? I'm in Fareham when i'm not at uni

....I'm about 2hrs drive from Portsmouth on fast roads.

If anyone from this forum wants to attend our Tyresmoke meet, as Phil did, you are very welcome - We're just another bunch of car enthusiasts who like a good banter.

unfortunately red does fade over time, its one of the worse colours for it, not sure what VW red is like though so dont quote me, its one of the major things that stopped me getting red (as it was high up on my choice list), although it can be cured/ hidden to a degree with decent polishing etc

....No, modern red car paint is not so prone to fading as it was in the past. If you read my earlier post you'll see that I informed you that my car has a couple of weeks thin layer of grime and looks duller as a result. This is how she normally looks when clean :-

sorry, wasnt so much referring to your car, as i said im not used to VW red, but i have to say modern red paint can still fade, nothing like the single stage in the past though, but red and yellow do seem to loose colour more than any other colour still, even with clearcoats applied

....Yes, red isn't the best colour for longevity but it needs heavy duty exposure nowadays to fade badly. My GTI is garaged all the time she's not being driven.

[/size]

....It's probably the lighting in the photo which makes it look blacker. Here's a different pic, but I sometimes use a cream on the grills called Back-to-Black which I mostly use in the engine bay for shows.

Why does red fade more than other colours then? And where do I get this "Back to Black" as the grills one part I find hard to get properly detailed?

its not really a cleaning product but just brings a shine to anything black. Down side is that dust likes to stick to it. in theory you could just use a bit of sunflower oil :lipsrsealed:

.... I would expect sunflower oil to be even stickier for attracting dust. You wipe off and therefore polish the Back-to-Black white cream - The result is more of a satin black finish than high gloss. It removes any dirt extremely well and instantly. It was recommended to me by a friend who wins 1st prizes in shine competitions - He has an Audi S4 and even cleans under the wheel arches!!

....He's on Tyresmoke forum and gets teased, but also congratulated! I've seen him soft brush in the crannies around the door rubbers! His S4 looks like it just left the showroom. He runs another Audi as a daily driver. The S4 is very thirsty if you have fun!
