Hey,
Basically i was driving the other day and my oil light started flickering, by flickering i dont mean like on off on off like its supposed to was like it was an electrical fault just on on off on on off off off on etc
Then it stopped doing it and next time i got in my car the temperature warning light was flashing, but thermostat reading was normal and had a look under the bonnet and felt coolant pipes and it was nowhere near hot. So drove home no problems.
Just wondering what could be causing the fault and where the best place to get the part would be?

hey, ive got a similar problem on mine,randomly and i mean randomly my oil light comes on with that annoying noise,i can be anywhere engine hot or cold,its really annoying as the oil and filters been replaced yet it still does it, its not loosing oil or anything.im tempted to just remove the bulb if thats possible or the fuse cos i check the oil regular anyhow.

Could be one of the sensors or oil pump thats faulty?

i had this awhile back and my temp and fuel needle would read 0. I jsut pushed the clock back into the dash with a firm push using the palm of my hand and it sorted it. I think it could be the cables behind the clocks are abit loose.

Hi, nah already replaced fuel pump and both sensors. Temperature light is flashing constantly now, how annoying! Ill try giving it a push and see if that works :grin: nice one

thats to indicate low coolant, if it overheats i dont think it flashes!

Light on temp gauage is for low coolant and overheating. Check your coolant level is good. If it is and car is running at god temps then sender, wiring or clocks are faulty.
Oil light and buzzer. These are telling you you are running low oil pressure not that the oil is low! Get it checled PDQ. 99% of times this is a faulty sensor, wiring or clocks but is it worth taking the risks?
Why is it whenever people get warning lights they assume it's a fault with the light/sensor? They are there to warn you your car may be about to die! Check out the reason it flashes 1st and if that is ok THEN start looking into faulty sensors etc.

Hi mate,
Nah only reason i thought electrical or sensor or somethign is because ive just finished rebuiling the engine so i know all the oil and coolant is fine, just had new oil pump/cooler/sensors all done so shouldnt be anything wrong with that. Just wondering if anyone had had it before.

If car aint running hot, coolant level is fine and you have checked the sendors it could just be the clocks...
at least i have come to that conclusion with my motor dude :wink:

Stuff like this is all about working things out methodically. I do electronic engineering for a living and this is the only way to go about electrics. Start at the sensor, for example change it with a know working one (not a new one cos that could be faulty). Then check the wiring back to the fuse box, do you have continuity from the sensor to the box? Then work from there back to the clock and so on so forth.
Once you have ruled everything out then you should find the problem.
