mk3 8v 0-60 in 10.9 secs 8)

Isn't Mk4 with 8v lump even slower (due to weight)?
-

ssshhhhhh !!!
don't tell blacky :D
lol! ;D

Think of this Richy, going back to the discussion on mk2 forum, 8v being only very slightly slower than an 16v (apparently).
If that is right then the 2.0 8v mk4 is as quick as the 1.8 20v.
I THINK NOT :D
-
10bhp and about 1sec 0-60 different, ain't it?
-
Blacky get yr ass on here now! :D
-
Yeah where's blacky ? ::)
-
10bhp and about 1sec 0-60 different, ain't it?
Yeah sounds about right.
Do a few mods to the 1.8 20v, and it will go very well :D
-
OMG somebody has killed blacky! :o there's no way he would hav left it this long!! hes loves a row ::)
-
Maybe he has turned over a new leaf :D
-
Maybe he thinks it's sad and pathetic and missing the two slowest Golfs anyway - the Mk3 Umwelt and the Mk4 1.4. And maybe the Mk2 1.1. Or an early VR6 with 100k + miles on the clock.
-
Sad and Pathetic
A bit like you Bodhi :-*
-
Yeah well, I'm rubber and you're glue. ::)
-
i thought this was gonna be an interesting thread - maybe would give me some idea of the power were talking throughout the range. im not gonna learn alot here am i. ::)
even i know the poll is wrong and im a girl that drives a cab - how about u share the correct statistics with us vr6? 8)
-
I got a Mk 3 1.4 CL, should be on the list :)
-
10bhp and about 1sec 0-60 different, ain't it?
Yeah sounds about right.
Do a few mods to the 1.8 20v, and it will go very well :D
Looking into getting a remap + new exhaust. Heard you can easily get it upto 145bhp. ;D
-
to get them kind of figures richy you also need a decent air induction system (carboteknic or some thing (expensive)) and you need the miltek exhaust ?300 ish, plus the miltek high flow cat ?200-300, other wise your not gonna see the 145 ish figures youll get about 5bhp for the exhuast and about 2-3 for the remap (with out the induction kit or removal of the cat!!) this is what fran on ukm4's had to do to his to get 148bhp!!

3 bhp for the remap? It costs ?300 at AMD! that's ?100 per horse!!! :o I'd heard you could get about 10 horses from the remap and then another 10 from air filter and catback exhaust. (looking at threads on uk mk4s site)
-
Not sure how relevant it is, since the 2.0 8V and 1.8 20V are such different engines, but a PiperX induction, Milltek exhaust (cat-back) and remap got mine up to 142bhp, 148lb/ft - as confirmed at AmD. That's 27bhp and 26lb/ft over stock.
1.8 might benefit more since it'll be wanting more air as it tries to rev harder... strangely my mods just smoothed and shifted the entire torque curve straight up, still peaks at similar points, etc...
-
Cheers! That's quite interesting.
...not bad considering the standard 2.0 only puts out 115bhp.
Upsolute quote an improvement from 125 to 137 bhp, and a torque increase of 125 lb/ft to 148 lb/ft for the 1.8 20v. (This is for chipping alone, no other mods)
-
Richy.. do u know how much will it cost to get upsolute chip ?
I am interesting HHmmmm 12bhp extra NICE ;D

see the chipping discussion thread in the Mk4 forum
