Title: Remap - R-Tech.
Post by: ara on 16 May 2008, 17:35
I'm contemplating getting my mk4 GTi-Turbo remapped after reading some of the post on this forum.  I've come across a company called R-Tech based in Hinckley, Leics which is local for me, found them on ebay.  As anyone heard of them "good or bad" or had any work done by them.

Cheers

few people have had their car remapped and have only said good things

have a search through as there are a few threads on them.

Nick (think thats his name lol) from R Tech normally posts on here and is very knowledgable and honest with what he does and the gains you can expect

Hello M8!

I have carried out remaps on a few GolfGTi.co.uk members cars, did one yesterday in Luton and one today in southampton, Both of them are over the moon and pi**ed themselves laughing at the massive power gains,
The guys said they will be posting  reviews on here soon.

My ebay feedback can be found here >> http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=r-tech-uk&&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller&sspagename=VIP:feedback:2:uk&iid=150247539486

I am only on my door step, so I can offer you a 7 day trial remap session is you want to see what you think.

Let me know as I can pop over to you one day in the week and give you some more power to play with.

Regards
Nick

Thanks Rhyso & Jamma for the plug!!

Hi MJV,

Getting the remap tomorrow afternoon, I will let you know what I think.  Although to be fair the guy has only good reviews so expecting the remap to be good.

R-Tech are based in Hickley Leicestershire, see following link for ebay listings.  They carry out mobile remaps also.

Cheers

hi nick

thanks for the reply.

ok here is the model.... 53 reg 1.8 GTI 150 BHP - AUM
also you mentioned that you do mobile remap service as well, now ideally after the remap wouldnt you need to do all the diagnostics to make sure we are getting the 'power' as specified?

so do you reckon is it worth doing it at your place rather than mobile ? coz you would have all the equipment you need at your place....(pardon my ignorance if this isnt the case)

personally i wouldnt mind a trip to leicester but if its the same result as we get for a mobile than i wouldnt mind gettin it done at my place.

btw i live in edgware - middlesex which is just off jn 4 on m1. can you travel this far?

also can you do it on weekends, say saturday (either mobile or i come there personally)

cheers mate !

Hello.

We do work on Saturdays for mobile or Drive in sessions. You can book in to come up to us and have your car put on the dyno for before and after power runs with print outs. We only charge an extra £35 for this service.

A full diagnostic check is included with all of our remap sessions.

If your car is highly modded then I would sugest remapping the car on the dyno and have a full custom remap session.  If your car is standard or lightly tuned ie exhaust, Induction kit etc.. then a Semi generic sw remap will be fine for your car and should see 210bhp with ease.

LOL  As I was typing this out MJV phoned me and booked in for a rolling road session for this Saturday morning.

look forward to meeting you.

Regards
Nick

Hello,

Your ecu will have to be remapped direct the the chip which is inside the ecu, It cannot be remapped via OBD2. To be honest 12bhp is about the most you can get from a remap on a NA 1.8-20v a custom remap might give 2 bhp max at the cost of around £180 more.  The main gains from a remap will be the way the power is delivered, stronger mid range and better throttle response.   If your  have a remap to 137bhp, you can alway add a performance exhaust, sports cat and a cool feed induction kit to give a few extra BHP plus free up the mid range even more.

Where are your from? I will PM you the prices.

Nick

i have already got a stainless system, intake kit and a de-cat. i am in Wrexham (near Chester), i take it a map will make quite a big difference to the 0-60 times etc not the top speed as such??!!
