Title: Coilover question
Post by: mush on 16 May 2008, 16:58
ive had a noise from my steering at slow speed for a while now and decided it was time to have a look today...anyway after popping the bonnet i turned the steering wheel from left to right as you would do and noticed the top rubbers on the coilovers were moving while turning the steering wheel at the same time...(not as if they are loose or
excessive )

are they supposed to do that? its just when the steerings straight the rubbers are level then as soon as you turn the wheel they move and swivel a bit... as if they are meant to do that. is this for cornering? or shouldnt it be doing that?

very hard to explain hope this makes sense. does anyone’s coilovers do the same? or can explain for me why its doing this?

never noticed it before

The rubbers shouldn't be moving, I'd guess that your bearings in the top mounts are shot...

I once pulled over and popped my bonnet, my wheels where not straight. The top bts you are talking of where not sitting level, they leaned over when you steer. I have been told this is normal. how ever if you can turn them clockwise/anti clockwise i wouldnt think that is right.
