Title: smokey dash

anyone tell me why smoke or steam comes out of heater vents in dash once the engine is warm,thoughts are its the heater matrix but thought i would ask before i rip out the dash  :-\

sounds like a leaky matrix.

thought it would be the matrix only thing is i havent filled up the header tank for months

Before you rip the dash out just bypass the matrix (connect the 2 hoses that go through the firewall to each other)
If the steam stops you know its your matrix.  Best to bypass it ASAP, because if it is your matrix on the way out it might burst and a) spill coolant all over your carpet b) possibly scald you or your passenger!
