What Oil does the GTI use and which one (make) do you guys recommend?

I use Castrol Edge. Recommended for VW engines and I've had no issues with it.

as above but it should be 5W-30 viscosity...

Castrol Edge is the stuff, costco is the cheapest place - 3x 1L bottles - works out about £7 a bottle
