I'm picking up my GTI on Friday, and wondered what is the best way to insure. Should I go for the free week's insurance that is offered through the dealer (any catches?) or just go ahead with my own insurance.
Never had a new car before so don't know what is best!
Cheers,
Mart

i used the free insurance, no catches that i could see

Get your own set up but also take advantage of the week's free one from the stealer as there are no catches with it apart from having to get a free quote from them.

i found it easy as i didnt need to take my papers to get the tax etc, with them doing the insurance there company will email/ fax the dealer direct so all is good

I agree !
Sorted mine for taxing purposes with the free weeks insurance - it saved me getting and taking a cover note to the dealer ..... which I always hate having to sort out. Rang my insurer and changed over in the normal way - just had no worries about things havng to arrive in the post.

I took the weeks free insurance too which gave me a bit more time to shop around for an annual policy because there was no way I was going to continue with VW Insurance with the quote they gave me!

I didn't know that they offered a weeks free insurance??????

I took the weeks free insurance, but didnt go with VW as they wanted 3 TIMES the normal amount from the majority of other insurers!
