hey ive just bought hubs and brakes to fit to my 8v 90 spec mk2. they are 280mm . the 8v brakes are female to male flei hoses.
the new ones i have, the pervious owner couldnt undo the brake hose/pipe so has cut through the hose to remove. now i assumed all golf brakes had female to male into the calliper. but these particular ones have female to female flexi hoses and then a short lenght of brake pipe into the calliper.
can anyone hazard a guess what these are off, so i can get an off the shelf flexi hose kit and some brake pads. thanks

I have a set off a G60 Corrado which are like you describe. I would imagine all 280 brakes are similar though.

ive emailed the seller, i can remove the solid line and go as normal female to male into the calliper. think ive resolved this now will find out tomorrow when ive got my pads and try to fit it all. ill take some pics about time my project page got an update

sorted the flexi hoses, on advice i removed the solid pipe and then my 8v flexi's went straight on
just one thing i noticed when swopping my hubs, the ball joint on the bottom arm doesnt seem to sit as far into the hub as it did on the original hubs. although the pinch bolt seems to hold it in the correct grove.
so just wandering. do 280mm hubs ie G60 corrado, have bigger/different lower arms/ball joints.

Same as far as I know, I have noticed minor differences on ball joints from different after market manufacturers.

Pretty sure late mk2s (if the hub and brake carriers are separate) have the same ball joints as g60's, the bigger one out of the 2. Can't remember the exact size off the top of my head.

got to do the other side today, the guy supplyed me with the old ball joints from the corrado i didnt think to check yesterday when doing the O/S i only noticed as when i was removing the old hub the ball joint it sat flush with the top of where it sits, now on the bigger hubs/brakes theres a couple of mm gap. also the pinch bolt was a tight fooking fit meaning i had to use a brummy screw driver to persuade it.

the ball joints for use with g60/280mm brakes are 19mm

looks like i need 2 new ball joints, i assume these can be bolted to the control arms that are already fitted. which are spanking new btw

hell yeah....peesh a pish to do

yeah fortunate im handy with the spanners, some time tomorrow between fitting the brake pads, braided hoses, master cylinder mk4 rear callipers and rear coilovers might see if my local motor factors has some ball joints
