Title: another gearbox goes bye bye
Post by: blackbeautymk2 on 11 May 2008, 15:43
Right, my original gearbox spat its diff seals out and chewed itself up about 5 or 6 weeks ago, so i got a nice 16 box, brand new clutch and put that in, then yeaterday out of nowhere it smashed a lump out of the diff housing at the back, will post the pics of this one up when i get it out in the week. So now im left with what to do? i cant be arsed changing gearboxes every other month so can anyone suggest a solution to this problem??
I was thnking of getting a mk3 box or the mk4 boxes i think they also fit? one with lower mileage, would consider a 6 speed box but not entirely sure if they fit??? so any help appreciated and also if anyone has a box that would be great!

thanks

im not sure but i think the mk4 box is a different animal and wont fit. the 6 speed box for one of the mk5 diesels fit and if you read PVW sometime last year septemberish i think there was a "how to" on doing this.
sorry i cant be of more help good luck.

oh i just put a mk2 8v box into my wifes mk3 8v and im going to recon her old one. there is a good "how to" here

incase you find another box and want to recon it first.
