Title: Rear Wheel Arch trim removal?
Post by: Blackie_No1 on 11 May 2008, 14:33
Hey,

How hard is it to remove these?  Will I be able to shave a bit off them to stop my new rear wheels scrubbing?  They are the wrong offset hence the scrubbing

i've just this second removed all of my wheel arch trims, easy peezy. u need to drill the metal rivets (using a small bit)  then pull them off, u'll need to get some CL or driver trim to replace the corners. if your rims are too bit you may have to have your arches rolled. i found one rust scab and one dent  lurking beneath mine which i need to get sorted

yea my mk 3 is Black too!!!   I wanna keep mine, just wanna try and trim the arches a bit to stop the scrubbing, though I mite just change the tyres from 205/50 down to 195/50 and see if that helps.  My rims are 7" wide and have an ET33 offset as opposed to the normal ET43 that the originals are

Just for info, if you downsize tyres from factory spec you might be best checking with your insurance company first, if you have a accident and they find smaller tyres fitted they could refuse to pay out due to the car being unsafe.
