Title: New to the dub scene, so is this a good deal?
Post by: bobski on 10 May 2008, 12:35
Been interested in Dubs for a while now but have decided to bite the bulit and buy my first project Golf for the summer. Found a car which is local and going to look at it this week. Its a 1987 Mk2 GTI 16v, ive seen pictures of it and the bodywork looks imaculate in a metalic blue, all totally standard, 155,000 on the clock and 12 months mot & tax. The guy wants £800 for it and says its as low as he will go, from your experiance is this a good price and what do you think of the car?

Looks pretty good to me, even better once it has been tidied up and fettled a little.

Looks nice mate, go for it. Make sure you get to go for a good long test drive before handing the cash over though

Just been to look at it, and put down a deposit and its going to be outside my house midweek! Bodywork is pretty mint for a 21 year old car with only one small dent on the drivers-side door and an inch square bit of rust under the rear window seal, will get that sorted right away. Other jobs that need to be done include: New fuel pipes, Rocker cover gasket, broken speedo, and driveshaft seals. After these things are done i will set about making it look the part, at the moment thinking 15inch deepdish wheels, lowered (40 max) and a few engine tweeks. Thanks for the input guys  :nerd:

Did you manage to get it any lower than £800?

No i did'nt mate (belive me i tried!) but i figured that the bodywork, and car in general was pretty tidy. Considering the car is the same age as me 21, im happy with the condition and work that needs to be done.
