Title: Smith Knight Fay Stockport
Post by: gazbutmk5gti on 10 May 2008, 11:19
Anybody had any dealings with Smith Knight Fay Stockport, I'm looking to get a first service and I'm working near there so would be handy. Are they any good?

I've used them for one or two niggles under warranty so can't comment on their servicing record.

btw I'm wondering why you don't get your car serviced at awesome as any vw warranty would still be valid.

I know that any VAT registered garage can service your car and as long as they use genuine parts your warranty is valid, in theory. I'm not sure how co-oprative they would be in the event of a larger claim.
Also unless you sell your car to another enthusiast they will not understand that Awesome will do a better job, they will just want to see VW stamps in the service book.
So what I tend to do is get the basic service done at VW, to get the stamp, and then have any other work that I can't do myself done at good old Awesome
Just my opinion of course

Hi mate
I have used smith knight fay stockport for a couple of services and have bought a couple of new cars from them to. The service i recieved from them was not the best and it just seamed very impersonal as though they just wanted the money and to get you out the door .But the worst part was to see the valeter rag the ar$e off my pride and joy up the car park  so i will never use them again.
But i can recamend smith knight fay hyde which is approx 4 miles from stockport it is a smaller dealership a lot more personal and very friendly and helpful staff.I purchased my edition 30 from them and it has had its first service there about a month ago and i could not be any more happy with the service i have recieved. hope this helps.

hi mate
The first service cost me about £115 incuding longlife oil. I always get my cars serviced every 12 months regardless of milage on time and distance but i get them to put the long life oil in.
