hey there guys and gals i just need sum technical advice from a veteren dub owner  my golf is a 1.8 16v k-jetronic and i has fastroad cams cams  and other mods its running at 180bhp but i know it seems like a stupid question from a mechanic but when it gets hot it cuts out  (pointing to thermostat) as the top pipe is hot bottom pipe is cold lol but im just curious if there are any other faults known with these engines????? any advice wud be much appreciated

I would start by looking at the various sensors on the engine. I am not too au fait with the 16v kjet, but the haynes have a section on where the sensors are and how to test them with an AVO.

Hi Mate...

Check the temperature sensor, and also remove you ISV and give it a clean with Carb Cleaner....

The ISV is located to the right, in line with your Distributer.

A few ideas...

Try unplugging your WUR as it enrichens the fuel mixture until its warmed-up. Perhaps they aren't shutting off when its warm, flooding the engine??

Also the Cold Start Injector may be firing for too long after startup. Have a look at that too.
