You guys seem quite knowledgeable, still trying to sell the MK4 but its MOT runs out at the end of this month :(
My insurance also ran out at 14:00 today (had an emotional last drive last night :(). Now my brother in law is insured to drive any car 3rd party. This would be ideal as he can drive it to get MOTed. I have a horrible feeling that he wont be allowed to do that as there is no longer any form of insurance on it or does the fact that he can drive any car 3rd means it doesnt matter what insurance is on the MK4 just as long as the person driving is insured for that car.
A bit long winded but you help would be appriciated.

in a nutshell - i would have thought no one is insured to drive your car as it must have some form of insurance on the vehicle

does it need any work doing??
for the sake of £50 it would be worth putting 12 months ticket on her  people will only use the fact you got no MOT to haggle you down plus they will be put off in the first place

Nah, she is sweet as. Had her serviced in Feb and she has no problems at all. I want to get her MOTed, just how do I get her there lol, day insurance?

yeah - should cost you about £10 i think; well worth it if it means you sell her on quickly

I thought that you would be able to get your mate to drive it to the MOT station. He is driving under his own insurance and therefore would be insured 3rd party? :undecided:
Post a question in the Insurance section on this forum. The HIC boffin should know for sure

If a car has no insurance then it cannot be driven on the road even under 3rd party cover from someone else's insurance, the vehicle in question needs its own cover in some form. The garage may be able to collect, they will be covered and even if mot is expired as long as it booked in you are ok to drive on the road.
There are daily to 30day policies available...
