Title: meta alarm problem
Post by: richard s on 08 May 2008, 21:15
i know this is a audio section but i am hoping some of the guys on here work in audio security shops and could help me out
i have a mk2 gti fitted with a meta alarm and just recently it has started going off about 2 mins after arming and when i turn alarm off and get in car the led flashes 3or4 times realy quick then stays lit for a while then repeats
does this relate to a certain part of the system triggering (doors/ultrasomics etc)
thanks

Bonnet switch I think or the door pins. It's been a long time since I worked on Meta alarms. Ripped mine out and put a Clifford in instead :)

cheers monza i think it might be fooked as it behaved for a few hours tonight but didnt today
but as it is i would rather have a alarm that keeps going off with an imobiliser that is working than turn it off
other than that do the ultrasonics have adjustable sensitivity

I think there is an adjuster on the main brain if you can find it :) wind the window down and move your arm from the window into the car, it should detect you about in line with the middle of the steering wheel :)

i found the adjuster and just turned it down fully locked up and armed it and 2 minutes later it went off
got to work this morning and 5 mins later someone came and told me my alarm was going off
got home tonight about 5 and alarm didnt start going off till about 9.30
so i think i have either got a large animal that i cant see living in my car or the alarm is about knackered
thanks for the help monza
