just wondering which ppl had and which ones are the best? ive got a sigma cat 1 alarm and immbolizer on my mk3 gti seems ok and got the certificate for my insurance! locks windows and sun roof if u happen to leave them open
-
Thats between me and my insurance co.
but...
I've heard from many people (including people in the trade) that clifford are poo'd, they're far too technical for any kind of reliability (lots of false alarms etc..) and are best suited to the corsa boys
Toad and Cobra, being uk companines, are actually built to withstand our climate, not USA's  but at the end of the day, as long as its got thatcham approval then its passed testing sufficiently to satisfy the insurance companies and should give as good protection as any other. its just down to what extra's you want with it, and whether you want a fancy key-fob or a "fasionable" name

i have a toad it seems reliable
-
I had a laser line on my first Golf and it was sh!t hot but a bit pricey, in reply to previous comments about other makes I think the most important thing is fitting as my mothers had a clifford on her car for almost 10 years and its fine, never gone wrong or played up in any way !
-
i had a toad alarm on my nova sr! and had no problems with it at all! like u say depends how well its installed!
-
yeah i'd say fitment is key. the clifford on my golf has just decided to be a cock and i can't dis-arm the immobiliser!
-
i heard cobra aint that gud
-
someone hit the nail on the head, its all about fitment.
Fit any alarm in a half arsed manner and it will give you no end of problems.
My Clifford was fitted 7 years ago by the previous owner(who got a Clifford pro to fit it) and ive owned the car nearly 3months now and ive not had one single problem or false alarm, its been excellent.
Can lock the car and windows from my bedroom upstairs if i want and can add things like remote start and boot realease etc
-
gotta cobra on me cab fitted by a company in chingford
and not had a problem and what i love is it creates a bubble when roof is down and anybody breaks it the alarm goes mad and is very loud
got a datatool on the bike and in 6years also not had a problem
expect to pay at least 300 for a good aftermarket alarm any cheaper and your selling yourself short

I have a Clifford concept 300 at the minute, I have a concept 600 with intellistart, dual zone prox sensor and smartwindows going on. Clifford alarms are sh!t hot if they are fitted correctly. I'm stripping the interior and sorting out my wiring whilst I'm in there fitting it. I used to fit alarms and always liked Cliffords as you can play with the settings loads more and add loads of sensors ;) If it goes off plug into the laptop and it tells me why. Plus I can start my car from bed and the office when it's cold out or vent/open the windows when it's hot!! If the battery gets low it can start itself to charge the battery up. I could go on!
I have cliffnet wizard and the installer version if anybody needs anything setting on a Clifford :)
SWMBO has a Laserline which false alarms all the time and I can't find the problem bugs me to hell so it will have a Concept 300 fitted soon!

Got Cobra full closure alarm/immobiliser.
Had them on both my 405's and never had any problems with them.
-
i got a meta cat 1 alarm and it been ace carnt fault it as yet, touch wood, watch it,ll play up now ive said that,
-
Clifford Concept 600 here. It was fitted about 10 years ago as far as I remember (I have the original paperwork at home).
I have had a few 'false' alarms, but it's due to the proximity sensor being set too sensitive at the moment - my master fob broke so I have no way of turning it down until I get a new one - and trees/petals etc will set it off.
It is an excellent alarm system though
-
Gemini full closure CAT1 alarm...
-
I have an autowatch 160RLi CAT1 alarm and immobiliser, caused me no problems whatsoever so far touch wood!
-
Factory standard alarm
But it's disconnected and I don't have the fobs so must have gone *BOOM* at some point
But I'm getting a toad soon
-
Thatcham Maxx1 alarm and immobiliser.
Makes me feel really posh when I lock it in a car park and it goes "woop woop!"
