Title: mk4 1.8t and dash
Post by: JRC on 07 May 2008, 22:39
Hi

previous golf's were a mk2 1.3 and a mk5 GT TDI 140.

I currently have a J plate 16V with a mint engine.  It doesn't seem to "kick in" until I arrive at 4000 rpm, is this normal?

with regard to better MPG and performance I am thinking of putting in a 1.8T from a MK4 gti and it's dash - what can I say I like the blue lights - is this fairly do-able?

what about the V5, is this possible?

Yes I have looked, but have'nt found any answers yet.

V5 or V6 would be interesting in a MK2

Think he meant the V5 documents  not sure...

In PVW last month (I Think) There was a mk2 with an Mk4 dash... Looked so sweet! Definately do-able but could be tricky I would have thought!

He's talking about the V5 MK4 Golf, they're f**king beasts!
I was doing around 100mph and this V5 just pulled up next to me had a look at my car then dropped me  :embarassed:

I'm thinking feck the 1.8T get the V5

4 dash is serious work, just a look at some of the dimensions and the differences is crazy. you'd deffo need to be extremely well kitted out to do it, and be clever in the world of engineering

Thanks guys

yes I mean the MK4 V5 engine.  I enjoy driving my 16v but you've got to put your foot to the floor and get it over 4000 rpm to get the blistering acceleration!  but then again average 30 mpg is not so good :-(

I'm not looking for high top speed - i enjoy cars with lots of torque ( hence the love of my previous MK5 gt tdi)  so I recon putting a 1.8T from a mk4 or audi etc..  would be the way to go.  If i can plug in the dash as well so much the better.

what are your thoughts on the best engine to put onto a mk2 1991 16v.

I think a VR6TS would be great! Still not seen it done though.
