Title: snapped a caliper bolt

hi folks just took the calipers off the ol girl and the calliper bolt has sheared off with about 10mm sticking out, is it a case off drill and tap it?....bloody things a pain in the arse :angry:

You could try an Irwin bolt grip socket on it, after much soaking in penetrating fluid! Man that is one crusty hub.

as above but also consider heating it hard with a blow torch then grips  :smiley:

Could also try an "easy out" but I have only had limited success with these.

Otherwise I think the answer to your question is yes.  Either drill to a diameter just smaller than the diameter of the bolt and try and chase the remaining thread out with a tap or drill the whole lot out and helicoil .
