Title: VDO gauge illumination
Post by: dubdan on 06 May 2008, 20:02
Have just bought a mk2 which has a votex console with three VDO gauges from an Audi in it. One of the bulbs has gone so I was thinking instead of just replacing this, perhaps I can change all the bulbs to make them light up a different colour (im thinking blue or red)?

Does anyone know if this is possible and how to access the bulbs within the gauges?

Many thanks

hiya pal, the bulbs are located in small plug type things that just twist out of the rear of the guage, have a look, they will light up red anyways since its from an audi, if you want another colour, it not as simple as changing the bulb im afraid, there is a red filter inside the guage, and the only way to change this is to open up the guage, and replace the filter with a home made one...

but since you wanted red anyways, sounds liek you wont have to do this...

hope this helps...
