Title: Changing the crankshaft sensor

Hey Guys,

Anyone have any idea how to change the crankshaft sensor on a MK3 8v im told its not difficult just need guidance.

Just seen its also called the Crankshaft Angle Sensor or the Speed Sensor  :undecided:

I only have experience with the 16v engine myself (i guess the 8v is similar) but when i changed mine it was in an awkward spot behind the oil filter. I had to remove the 2 big bolts that hold the starter motor/ front engine mount bracket in place, and also the big bolt holding the front mount itself to gain enough access to it. Once these were removed i dropped the engine down a bit while it was supported on a jack and i was able to undo the bolt that holds the sensor in, its just one bolt with a hex type head on it and it just slides out.

8v is a smaller lump so someone has said to just take off the oil filter. Fingers crossed it works  :laugh:

Just done mine on my 8v, exactly as described by Flex was the only way I could do it!
