Title: Ive bought a GTI
Post by: wanderer on 05 May 2008, 21:06
Following on from my first thread, i have found and bought a Golf GTI.

Its in black, 5dr, DSG with paddles, E/S/Roof, reverse sensors, 18" Monza II's, full leather, 6cd, its on a 55 plate with less than 15k on the clock, it needs some TLC, but i got it at a good price.

Only problem is that all 4 wheels need refurbing, which the dealer has agreed to do in the price, but it could take about a week to do.

It also has folding mirrors, is this standard, or did it come with a pack of some sort???

Folding mirrors is just a stand alone factory fitted option.

I looked at retro fitting the folding mirrors, didn't get beyond the look at the car with them bit.  They don't fold very far in, unless the one I looked was fooked!

Well done on the purchase, you will not be disappointed.  Next step is pictures if you please!

No they dont seem to fold very far, but it will be enough to get in and out of my garage without damaging them.

Pics will be posted as soon as i get the car.

Shaun, if you dont mind me asking, what do you recommend for polishing and waxing a diamond black car?

Refurb Monza II's

Not heard anything good about that option - difficult to say the least.

i have seen it done quite effectively, thats not to say they will, but it can be done relatively easily if you know what your doing

Sounds like a brilliant spec you got there. Sunroof is brilliant in the summer, cant wait to put mine to good use.

Its in decent nik, no real scratches, and some swirling is evident, all detailing will be done by hand.
