Title: Burnt Wires
Post by: e21jason on 05 May 2008, 20:24
Hi after swapping the clocks on the G60 I had a bit of disaster, the headlight switch shorted and burnt out the live feed. I was able to pull the switch in time but the damage is 1 switch the harness from the switch to the fuse box and the fuse box as the pin is burnt out so I have a few questions

Are all golf mk11 fuse boxes the same as there are a few on ebay

Does any body have the part number fro the switch and harness

Does any body have a fuse box, harness or switch for sale.

Thanks

Jason

Hi The only number I can find is 1 856 1312711 on a white sticker on the side of the fuse box.

:undecided: The part no. on this one is 171 941 813D, its stamped on the back and there's no sticker on it.

Is your fusebox still in the car as i dont htink you'd be able to see the part no. with it still fitted.

I had the exact same thing happen to me.

One of the wires, I think the red one (it'll be the most scorched!) is unfused

I put an in-line fuse on mine when I replaced the wire, I think it's well worth doing to prevent a repeat.
