Thanks toph! :afro:

Well, it's been alongtime coming but it's starting to come together! :D

March 2007 & I picked up this nice standard, low mileage (85K) GTi

Apart from dropped springs, K&N induction filter & a chav kenwood stereo it was standard, plenty to do though!

First clean & polish.

The 16V badge was missing so the buying started

Then the Kenwood stereo was replaced with a Sony Xplod one, mainly as it was subtle, back lit red to go with the red of the 16v trim & mainly as it was cheap!

Next was the interior, the drivers seat had gone in the usual place & the bolster had worn away which was a pity as the rest was perfect!

Nonetheless, eBay provided & a very tidy set of earlier GTi seats were fitted along with some RECARO badges as they are a close resemblence of the MK4 RECARO's.

Fitted!

Cleaned up with the 16v badge!

Next on the list were some rear mudflaps, wheel arch trims, MK4 Hella Crystals & VR alloys!

Oh! Foglights too!

Then it was time to free up some BHP, albeit only 1 or 2!

PECO DTM & custom pipe curtesy of MIJ in Walsall!

That's how it stayed for quite a while apart from having to replace both headlights due to stone's then resorting back to OEM ones as they are cheaper to replace! :undecided:

Anyway, a couple of months of ownership I started paying more attention on here & got all inspired, I really like the 'look' of Kells GTi & figured I'd do something similar....

I then decided the fake RECARO's had run their course & convieniently a set of VR leathers came up down if "saff landan"...

After that the leather fetish got worse & developed into somewhat of a chrome fetish too!

MOMO Millenium wheel & dial trim.

Leather handbrake & MK4 Gear knob.

Also popped in some chrome interior handles for good measure!

I changed to fully comp insurance at the start of the year & which luckily coincided with a chip in my screen, which was previously filled by Autoglass, cracking - time for a new screen, SO much better!

Had some time to smarten things up which resulted in red calipers.

& also got a Hella rear light spoiler too!

This was all done following a small front ender, thankfully it was purely cosmetic but resulting in me taking the opportunity to tidy everything up...

So, new grill, bumpers, bonnet, mirrors, wing, exhaust, fogs & lights later it's starting to get there!

From this sorry state.

To back on the road like this in just one weekend.

To this.

Also got round to installing the Remus exhaust which was listed as 'cat back' on fleabay, obviously this resulted in me having to pop to the local GSF for a down pipe for the cat to middle box!

Still, out with the old on with the new!

Still got the wing, bonnet & radiator to fit which is where I'm off to now, then the bumpers next week!

I've missed a few bits & a couple of pics so will have to go back & edit later!

OK, last weekend was new radiator time!

A lot easier than I thought, just have to work the rubber tubes a lot to get the coolant to flow.

Took off the wing to replace with one fresh out of paint shop, but I only went & bent the damn thing so it was back on with the original one, it's not that bad but needs respraying one day!

This weekend I'll be fitting these then giving the car a DAMN good wash!

Just to note, they are very dusty, very shiney paint underneath!! :afro:

But at the end of last weekend I had this...

Very pleased with myself!

New bumpers on but old bonnet with worn out sound deadening

Have to admit that I liked the look...

New bonnet with mint sound deadening, well worth the 99p I spent on it - eBay's great!

All washed & tucked up for polish & wx tomorrow! Whoop!
