Title: cleaned and polished
Post by: SteveS on 04 May 2008, 16:27
Car wasnt particuarly dirty anyway, but as i bought the polish decided to clean it anyway.. It started raining halfway, so was a bit rushed, so will do it again at the weekend. after a good clean i noticed a few light "bits" on the paint, so will be clayed at some point, but i have heard theres something new coming out there. so waiting for that, whatever it may be?

The pictures are taken on my phone so dont really do it justice... i really do need to get a digi cam!

im gonna have a crack with some canubu wax if thats whats it called, can it be bought from halfords or is it special order from some backstreet sweat shop???. Should the car be waxed after that in the normal fashion??.

I find adding a layer of polish before adding the wax gives a better shine

Dead heat - both cars look stunning (although Phil, you need to get your hand in those arches )

If you look at the last picture - in the passenger seat, looks like someone with a small head is hiding there - freaked me out a little...

Now I'm confused - I've been using AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine after a wash (this didn' make much difference to my last car which was Avus Silver TT, but world of difference on the Steel Grey golf!) and if enough time AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection - I've always considered the first one here as polish\wax part - so what polish are you using before applying the Carnauba Wax?

Not sure if you know but R222 now do a 100% Carnauba Wax - about £10 more than concours-look, not sure if its harder to apply etc.

Anyone used Dodo-Juice products? Anygood? As you can tell I'm an AutoGlym fan but maybe its time to try something else (only recently migrated to Meguiars NXT - yep from AutoGlym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner!)

Post by: SteveS on 19 May 2008, 10:34
both those autoglym products are polshs, not wax. i think the bottle said to put the extra gloss ontop, i think i did this when i got my car.
WAX is a top dressing.

not tried dodo, i tried vicotias concours the other day on a few panels and didnt see any different at all. not sure if it was a bit dodgy as i got a sample from someone... seemed runny but everyone says its not really...

Post by: Kermit on 19 May 2008, 10:43
Ok cheers - must read the labels in future :embarassed:  So, maybe I should drop the use of the extra gloss protection and use a wax instead (maybe R222 or something from Megs).  Means no reduction in time to complete though so will still get hassle from the bird...but car will look good   No idea about Vicotias stuff

100%

Literally everyone knows it already. At one stage there were also rumours about me having three kids and a missus  :lipsrsealed:

I posted a thing about my mums cars windows ages ago and got addicted. Know I am on here cos I know a lot about the Golf (Not as much as Hurdy and redrobin etc) and I enjoy the chatting and learning things about vehicles etc.

Guess that does not make sense to you. Well.... I have never even put the key in the Golf's ignition before.

But I have a huge passion for cars and this forum is the friendliest by far.

Mike

Not my greatest work. But everage I guess  :embarassed:

When I tried to do what I had in mind the pics just went all fuzzy and looked bad. Not your fault. Just the way the camera took it in conjunction with the low lighting.

I have a thing for Phils Car. I love red GTi's.
You can do a lot with the colour on Photoshop too. Trying to do a sig of my moms United Grey GTi is a joke. Its so boring and plain. Unless you put a hectic background in it.

Which is why you may have noticed red, black and white GTi's in my sig.

Mike

*Thanks for compliment

Who has gone through the most Mk5's?

Isnt it Illyun? Or maybe The Doc?

Cant remember but three GTi's is enough. Phil I assume you didnt really like the Three GTI Sig I did?

We also have Peugeot 206 and according to the bodyshop the colour code for it is the same as the Red VW Supplies. I love that car even though its a Peugeot. Just for the colour.
