Just doing a little test.

mk3 GTi 16v, 60mph is around 2800-2900rpm yes?

doing 80mph in a 1.4 is around 4000rpm  :laugh:

I think ..... or maybe that is @ 90mph

My 8v gti bang on 70mph is 3000rpm. recon 16v will be slightly lower.

90mph is 4000 revs in mine if that helps!

I find its usually 500 revs per 10mph

I know for a fact that if you stay at 70mph in a mk3 valver it is under 3k revs and the fuel consumption is wickid!!!

my 8v is about 4000 revs at 80 mph thats in 5th. thought it would be a great diffrence to a 16v  but it dont seem to be much

just tested today, like i said around 2800rpm at 60 in 5th and then 70 is 3000rpm  bang on.
