Apologies for posting here, but after half a day in the new A3 cab, it looks like thats going to become our/(her) second car. The GTI still takes pride of place on the drive mind you, and if the A3 comes with the RS4 wheels then the only way she gets them back is by taking the wheel wrench from my cold, dead hand!
The engine seems to be the same 2.0T FSI, same DSG, extra S Line spec, same dimensions as the GTI (v Close) and front wheel drive. It feels, drives and performs the same as the GTI, apart from the roof pops down in 9 secs.
Does anyone have any opinions of it, or pics of the red S Line with the RS4 wheels, or have test driven and like or dislike it? I might get away with posting here as its a "sister" to the GTI, and may start up a portable hairdressing service
Cheers chaps
Oh and can it be Remapped the same ? !!!
-
ok this goes without saying, is it just me or do ALL men that drive cabrio's have a hair dilema!
ok dont ever say i cant help you with your choice but check this website out

Cheeky
"£$% t%&tchap!
I have a full head of hair and no doubts about my sexuality! I dont drive it, its not even ordered yet!
However, I did have a lotta fun when owning a TT Roadster. Had to have the bonnet resprayed twice. Seriously.
Damn those pocket rivets on female Diesel Jeans......
-
sorry wasnt aiming comments at you mate, just seen even single cabrio thats on the road on the motorway, is always driven by a bald or balding bloke!. nxt time your on a major route, keep an eye out
-
If its for your miss'es then its ok but if its secretly for you then its a NO NO (c'mon be honest, is it for you?).
What i've noticed is that women appreciate cabbys but real men (who know about motors) appreciate GTI's :)
Its very highly unlikely that you will get a women telling you that you drive a nice car when your in a GTI (unless she knows about cars), but you will get alot of men telling you its a nice car.
Women love convertables regardless of what make it is or whos driving it. Its just something thats imbedded in their DNA. Personally, my driving comfort and taste comes before a womens idea of a nice car

Its not for me, Honest! I use and love the GTI! Its going to be her car with me driving it once a month to fill it up then clean it.
And its true, the fairer sex love the soft tops...
I knew it was going to be dodgy posting this here LMAO :smug:
-
My missus owns a Tigra - and most of time I use it I drive with the roof down (only if she's in the seat next to me!!)
Shes just ordered a new BMW 1 Series Cab - so no doubt it'll be the same too.
Unfortunately, I'm starting to 'grow through' my hair too - so cut it with a No1 clipper every week. Yet another baldy driving a convertible - GUILTY!!!!
-
Its not for me!!!!!!!!
Unless the suns out, its clean and full of fuel.
And the neigbours daughter needs a lift somewhere...

Sorry about the previous post - I couldn't resist
Seriously, the A3 is a good car and well built (I had an A3 TDI Sport). I'd have a word with the dealer to get some assurances that it isn't going to have a revision to the front like the A3 will be doing later this summer.
With regards to remapping, it can be treated just the same as the GTI.

....Well, I've had 3 women telling me (unprompted) that they like my throbbin' red one (the GTI that is!!) in just the last few weeks. And I'm excited to say I'm seeing one of them again next week      - "Thankyou for asking me to hang out with you for the day" is what she said. Respect a man's car and the man will respect you! (it's written on my MySpace page).
....Great TopGear wig vid, Hurdy! -     I hadn't seen that one
-
That top gear thing of the wig is quite funny....and imp the A3 Cab is abit over priced at around £30k with a good spec...think i would go for something else.....

Im with Manu.
I think for that price you could get a year old high-end spec A4 cabby (which i like)! A new shape TT roadster for that matter aswell.
I think depreciation is going to be diabolical on the new A3 cabby's :embarassed:

There is always the Eos with its trick hard folding roof

Does anyone know where to find a pic of a red A3 cab with S Line spec and the RS4 wheels? The Audi site doesn't work properly, suprise suprise!
With the RS4 wheels on, and the S Line trim, its meant to look the dogs danglies!

I can't see how the chassis "is the same" as the GTI when surely it will have extra stengthening to cope with choping the roof off.
Sure that must introduce a few changes to combat the chassis twist without the roof reinforcing it.

I'd agree with the strenghtening part, but from the salesman and from the brochures I have of the GTI and the A3, it has 2578mm wheelbase, which is exactly the same as the GTI.
-
....Who knows? (certainly not any VW salesman!). Perhaps the GTI chassis is so strong it didn't need changing. Or perhaps VAG wanted to save money (less likely). The GTI is known to have an excellent chassis.
Personally, I just don't like any Cabs and I don't much like the look of the A3's anyway. I like hardtop Coupes though .

is it safe for me to come out now
