Hi there . I am planning on getting a cold air intake and it would be nice if you could recommend me some stuff.
-
carbonio seem to be the on to go for http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/store/product.php?xProd=5713&xSec=1
some say you get results with CAI's, some dont
-
They are all similar when it comes to claimed benefits. In the end it came down to which one looked better - Carbonio is leagues better looking than anything else out there at the moment
-
But isnt the catbonio very quiet. I want something loud
-
If you want something loud, get the type of intake which does away with the stock engine cover. Then be prepared for rough gravel sounds and raised eyebrows if you have a warranty issue.
-
can you get a nice induction noise fro a GTI ?
-
What do you know about this intake?

looks good, but surely thats just sucking in a lot of hot air.. :-|
-
Yeah man. I am looking for something like this one but something that has been aproved.
-
there may be a cold induction feed underneath the cone filter, very simular to K&N Filter. If it hasnt got a cold feed, would be a waste of money, will if its like a K&N, will make the induction sound abit deeper.

By guys who know something about this stuff. Those who sell this will tell you anything to sell it to you.
-
I would stick with the Carbonio for discreet look and sound - if I was to go for something more induction then the forge kit looks good as the filter is further away from the hot engine bay - downside is you have to be aware of any large puddles/water.

Fatandre, the one you posted in the picture is on Awesome's site - see below
http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/vw%20golfmk5/engine.html
It doesn't come with a cold air feed and IMO wouldn't give gains as good as the Carbonio. It also means you either lose the engine cover, reducing the weather protection or buy the carbonfibre cover.
-
I am sure I have seen a pic recently of a engine mounted filter but with a heat guard round it - will see if I can find it and the make unless anyone else can tell me.
-
Does the Carbonio intake come with/need a K&N style filter aswell
-
it comes with a pipercross style (if it isnt) filter

Cheers Steve, the Carbonio will probably be my first mod when i get my GTI.
-
....I can confirm that the Carbonio definitely comes with a Pipercross panel filter.

I think I will go for the Carbonio. How much for it and where?
