After over 2 years of thinking about it, i finally got the gti colour coded:thumb::thumb::thumb:
Its always annoyed me but being black i've always been thinking its not that bad. Anyway, i stumbled across a cheap ed30 rear valance a few weeks back and that was my decision made. I managed to find a bodyshop with a great reputation who have done a stunning job.
The guy even said he was so paranoid about it getting marked he wouldnt let anyone drive it into the workshop and always parked his range rover next to it so not to get it dented lol. (all that from me asking him not to wash it) Exactly what i wanted.
Took 5 days but has been well worth it. He did the front valance, the side skirts and the rear bumper
Lots of pics sorry, let me know what you think.:o

As i said on DW, nice one

Hi Winrya
Nice looking car mate. I have thought about getting the same done to my plastic bits, having them painted makes the car look an awful lot better.
Are those R32 tinted rear lights you have there, or standard GTI's? Thats next to be done here as well !
Good job

Thanks, they are r32 lights, i bought them last summer and themselves made the back end look sooo much better
-
damn fine looking motor.

Whats next then? going to lower her a bit or fill those arches with some sexy 19 inchers?

Nothing cosmetic, its exactly how i've always wanted it now, getting 4 shiny new monza's under warranty next week so will leave it at that. Only thing i may consider is a remap of some kind although i need to look into the insurance costs
-
Sweet..Good Job fella
-
i don't know why VW don't do this as standard, it finishes the car off really nice .

Excuse my ignorance, but can someone please post pics showing the 2, ED30 and GTI valances, as I can see any difference!
It is a bit early and I feel a bit "fluffy" here !!!

Oh I see,
And I'm liking what I see ! How much does a painted one set you back ?

The bumper is a £400 part which is out of stock with no dates which i always thought was too expensive for a bit of plastic. I managed to get this one for £78 off ebay
Painting cost £479 for everything. I could have got it cheaper but wanted it done to a high standard
-
looks good, better pay the dosh and get it done properly than have to watch it peel off and do all again.
-
It does look really good. I'll try and find the part number and get it delivered here, I doubt anyone would post such a big item to the Channel Islands.
if anyone knows the part number i'd appreciate the help.
-
I have to say, it looks stunning. I think I will get mine done

if you scroll down its available here. I'm pretty sure they are ex vat prices and you will probably get the best price from vagparts. However, as i said, the issue is availability, there are a couple of people on here who have been waiting over a month for insurance replacements but there are still no dates.

Thanks Winrya
I take it these are plain primer colour sent?
I'm thinking of getting the Ed30 front and rear and getting them painted up
-
Changing the rear Holly Valance etc on a black GTI....I don't really understand why. I do understand doing so on any of the other coloured GTI's because the black rear plastic stands out visually. But, who am I to speak? - Not everyone understands spending on carbonfibre .

Mines not painted at the moment, its bumpy plastic, the coloured ones are painted.
Tinted lights on order now..... !
-
Lovely addition winrya  and great pics too.
Modding the MKV is becoming more popular by the day

It just always annoyed me to be honest red. I was sick of people saying lovely car, why didn't they paint the bumpers
I'm more of a subtle modder, for your average person they might think its standard, but for me and people in the know, they will appreciate the subtle improvements. Well I hope so anyway

Heres my original just colourcoded. I cant see much difference other than the ED30 exhaust cutout having a strip around it. Am i right?

....Every GTI owner who's an enthusiast (probably 85%) will appreciate what you have done but most important of all is YOUR appreciation of your ride
-
The only difference is that the ED30 is colour coded and has a strip around the exhaust. Am i right?
The lower section is a completely different shape
-
You can see the differences in the pic below

And it also flares out on the edges

I like - very much. Finishes it off nicely.
Can anyone recommend a decent bodyshop in the manchester area who would be able to colour-code my skirts and also fit and colour code an ED30 rear?

Thanks Hurdy
I think this will be my next mod (or maybe the R32 style).
When i have the money that is :embarassed: I've been spending all my money on new AV equipment for the house of late :lipsrsealed:
