well, teated me and my car to the APR motorsport fuel pump upgraded software today, and I'm very impressed, so impressed I've treated my car and me to a full TBE Milltek to
Awesome are marketing the fuel pump and map as a mod to improve midrange and driveability rather than all out top-end power and I confirm it does exactly what it says on the tin.
Not that the car was lacking in the midrange area before, now its fantastic, feeling really crisp, smooth and what feels like another bucketfull of midrange torque.
Like I said I was that impressed I've ordered a full Milltek TBE, in the resonated variety, which should be here in a couple of weeks.
I had a chat with Pablos, who is looking after the APR stuff at Awesome alongside Jim, and he reckons you can run stage 2 software without upgrading the intercooler, although the intercooler would be nice as a precaution against heat soak in the summer(if we get 1),
so seeing as I'll have everything else required for stage 2 it would be rude not to
Hopefully it will all be done before the RR day

sounds nice, what did adding the exhaust add to the insurance ?
-
don't know not done it yet, but the rest of my mods added about 80 quid I think can't remeber exactly.

pretty good that then, mine was reasonable till i swapped to the GTi then added mods

what you payin pal, how old

what you payin pal, how old
well, hard to work out as i changed so much on it, and at different times so not full years !!, for the modded ST (not far off 300bhp) it was £415, i had to pay £55 more for swopping to the Golf, then i had to pay £130 for adding the chip (thats with them waving there fees)
ps im 37, and have a younger wife wife

Great mod that fuel pump sounds like then Gaz
I knew you wouldn't be able to resist the lure of a Full Milltek TBE for too long
An intercooler should see some gains on the power front too. Forge claim over 10bhp and 6lbft through the rev range
You'll have to come to Inters too to see what performance you get from the car in terms of 0-60 and 1/4 mile times
-
yes, i think 0-60 the standard ed30 without being chipped will be faster, but obviously quarter mile will be about 1 second in it from my calculations. Fingers crossed for a dry day this time out. im sure mine will do a low 14 second run with no mods whilst you modders should pull a 13.5 if conditions are right.

Sounds good mate I think Im gonna have to be gettin one of these, how much was it if you don't mind asking matey? You'll have to take us out in it on the rolling road day, I would be interested to see what it feels like because a mapped ED30 without any other mods is ridiculously quick! It only seems sensible for me to go stage 2 now. I got the Milltek and Carbonio all I need is the fuel pump and map now
-
Jim did me a deal after using my car for development
I think it £499 + the dreaded and 1 hour fitting, thats on an exchange basis, and comes with software.
It really is strong in the midrange and the kick when the turbo spools is awesome, bring on the TBE and stage 2
Just need to decide if to get the intercooler anyway
-
Do you know what the normal price of them is pal? I think ill be giving them a ring on tuesday, sounds great  Im guessing you have had your map changed to adapt to the new fuel pump then?
-
see above, I think the software is free if you already have APR software, otherwise it would be cheaper to just get the fuel pump
-
Ah not to expensive then, I thought it would be more than that. Im gonna have to do some saving up I think, hopefully I might have it all sorted for the rolling road day
-
I notice your names down for the night drive on a certain other forum Tom, u could try it then
-
Good stuff, it should be good that, never really done anything like it. I think it's just an excuse to go to Krispy Kremes  Will look forward to a ride in her

Hi Gaz,
I'd go for the intercooler if you can. When I went to the GTI Spring Fest I did notice that the car was getting gradually slower on subsequent 1/4 mile runs and could only really attribute this to heat soak. With the uprated fuel pump I can see why they recommend it
