After my recent experience I would advise get it seen too sooner rather than later! Do not force it into gear either!!

mine does it as well, goes off when the car warms up
been meaning to have my oil changed, if anyone has suggestions I would like to hear it

Iv heard somin about a ball bearing...? my mates mums mk3 gti had problems with the gears and it was a bearing or somin. mine has this problem, sometimes getting into first and crunching in forth

It`s the 2nd gear syncromesh that wears due it not getting much oil when it`s thick and heavy at bottom of the box when cold.I always chnage nice and early from cold to eliminate the problem starting.Gearoil is easy to change a large allenkey shaped bung in the bottom and to fill same kind of thing on the side of the box front facing left hand side,I think it`s maybe a 17mm key .2litres of fully syntetic gear oil will do the trick the sh!t hot stuff is made by redline (I think)
