hello. i have a 2.0 l bottom end of an old passat and a head with a high lift cam on it and i am wanting to find out if i can get the engine fitted with a turbo and where i can take the engine to get it done, cheers

Might well be easier to start with a 1.8 20V turbo.
- Already has a turbo, so internals are designed to work with boost
- lots of information regarding it, its a popular engine to tune up
- Will be a mostly standard engine, so replacement parts will be easy to source.
otherwise, you'll end up spending probably similar amounts of cash on modifying yours to work with a turbo, only to end up with (probably) more reliability issues, and harder to source parts for repairs because it's an unconventional engine.
To add a turbo to a non-turbo engine you'll need to lower the compression, possibly uprate other engine internals, get custom ECU software, custom manifolds.... All that custom stuff will cost a lot.

Hello, right the engine can be turbocharged but you will need diffrent pistons for a start. other than that the engine its self should cope but a stronger head gasket is essential.
the problem is with these engines is its a counter flow head (unlike the americal cross flow) so there is very little space for the turbocharger to fit. it is possible how ever but will be big money, The outcome could be realy quite impressive
