After having my Gti Revo chipped some 3 months ago, decided to have a Forge dv fitted today.Had a call from Revolution performance centre in Gateshead to say they had a cancellation and did i want the done early,so its fitted, and have to say, done a ex job, holds boost longer and also have peace of mind, although the original that i kept looks in ex cond also,14,000 mls on the clock,3,000 revo'ed!!!
£170 all in,is this a good price?
Also looked into brake upgrade, and have found motorsport world Tarox G88 grooved disks,Corsa fast road pads, all for £315,but revolution will do for £300 and when on the job, will fit my supplied braided hoses and decent dot 4 brake fluid for £390,not bad me thinks
Hel hoses did some great stainless hoses for my Suzuki GSXR 1000K5 at a great price, now they tell me they are doing hoses for cars starting today, much cheaper than goodridge, and stainless ends as standard,so will let all know a price when i order.
If you can afford the cream of the cream brakes like Red Robin go for it,but i think the above is a very good start and price over standard brakes,as i know a few of us could do with slightly better.Bloody roundabouts and corners come up quick these days!!!

Hi Chris,
£170 isn't a bad price for the DV and fitting.
I'd have thought that for the little extra in price you would have been better going for some 5.1 dot brake fluid over the 4.
I know what you mean about corners coming up too fast
-
Cheers for the reply Hurdy, will a good brand Dot 4, not be better for the road as it absorbs less moisture, but Dot 5.1 has a higher boiling point, but will need bleed more as for grabbing the moisture,i.e on the track??
Need to get my old books out!!!!
Chris.
-
With my "enthusiastic" driving style I'd tend to opt for the 5.1 fluid. There are some race fluids that are still classed as dot 4 and perform higher than 5.1 dot, so it can depend more upon the make of fluid you choose as much as the dot rating. :nerd:

thats what i remember, 5.1 would need changing more often

CHRIS-M07GTI... The DV you had fitted the other day was it the standard blow-off or the variable blow-off type, as I've just rang my local VAG approved garage (Ricci Concept, Hull) and have been quoted £65.80 for the DV and £52.88 for fitting (standard forge DV). I have rang Awesome and have been quoted £48.86 and £58.16 respectively for the same. The variable DV is £120ish plus fitting at Ricci Concept.
Ricci Concept have just rang me back and they have one in stock and will be fitting it today at 2pm.
I will report back later today after fitting to give you my opinion.

CHRIS-M07GTI... Me thinks you've had a Replacement Vacuum operated Valve for VAG 2.0 FSiT fitted and not just the blow-off spacer which gives nothing but a woooosh.
In that case it is a good price as forge list them at £155 plus fitting.
as opposed to the Forge DV blow-off spacer for £55 plus fitting
(http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/images/products/FMDVFSiT.jpg)
So does that mean when people with remaps say that they've had there DV change they mean the Replacement Vacuum operated Valve and not the blow-off type.
Ha ha... got it now

Hi Martin, mine fitted was the Forge FMDVFSITV,the one recommended on the Forge website.
£114.89 for DV, £29.79 fitting, Net =£144.68 Vat £25.32 Total £170.00.
As Hurdy said, decent price,so im happy with info from guy's who have had work done,i think it's good that we all keep each other informed of prices up and down the country,as i know companies have a buisness to run,but nobody likes to be ripped off!!!
I know Cass will prob use similar companies to me and vise versa with been in the sunny north east, but keep a tab on Hurdy and TT in Yorkshire,Phil Mc on the French Riviara!!!! (Phil needs a ED30 with the air con on all the time in that heat, zaps the power!!)
so prices will vary.

I dont want no god dam WHOOOOOOSH,im 37 for god's sake
Chris.
-
^^i wouldnt either, i assume the Forge doesnt give the whoosh unless you get that spacer ?
-
the spacer is bolted between the dv and the mount. its the spacer that makes the whoooosh, also you can get one that you adjust the sound, abit chavvy but pulls heads when driving past, i dont have one btw.

Correct,i clearly stated to the lads at Revolution,no Whoooooooooooooooosh, although all the lads are there are under 30yrs,im sure they would have loved to fit that god dam spacer, judging the amount of Scooby's evo's etc they do.
Cracking place, and always up to giving you the best price and service.
Im not plugging them, just like i did with TripeH who done my Revo,ex service,ex comments to others for them,im sure Red Robin agrees with me,as he stays loyal.

Martininwillerby
he said he has the first one fitted, the second is an option to make it whoosh
-
^^^correct, you can use the dv on its own, or you can bolt the space inbetween the dv for the whoooosh.
-
Fitting has now been canceled.... Not paying £120ish just for the woooosh.
Don't mine the wooosh if it comes with the the improved DV, but I'm not paying for it.....
Just read back the thread and it seems I've made myself look a bit of a Tw**t...
But a least not one with £120 less in his pocket...

The codes I quoted are from Forge's website...
-
Martin, forget about the blow off spacer £40 odd quid,i have been on the site and my box part n'o is slightly out,so must have been boxed up wrong at factory, mine says, FMDVFSITV although is the £135 odd one on the site, direct replacement for the original one in the picture that has split, now go and get one fitted,it holds boost longer bud,no god dam Wooooooooooooooooooooooosh !!!!
