I've dot a Pearl blue 3dr C reg 8v gti which has got about 78k on the clock. I used it for over a year but since I've had a family its been left on my mums drive for a couple of years. The question is, should I modify it or return it to a near show room finish? What are peoples views on this? Every time I see it I see the potential...
The car is not the best looking with a couple of small dents on the doors, wings and one on the rear panel, there's no rust and the paint is looking a bit tired now. The only things that I did to it was to lower it 40mm, tint the rear windows and fit big bumpers.
There a 3 different ways i guess I could approach this
1. Should I restore it keeping the whole thing standard?
2. Restore it to near standard, keeping the big bumpers, later single glass doors. Fitting electric windows, Remote central locking.
3. Modify it.
What do you guys think?

Restore it to near standard as you have already started it....

do what you want to do with it?

Restore to original, you cant go wrong...

C reg with big bumpers?
restore it to original, including small bumpers... you would have to get all the dents out etc before you started modding anyway in which case you would be half way there.
Early B/C gti's are getting pretty rare so would be nice to have a good nick one

Restore it.
A c-reg with that low a mileage, definately restore.
To me big bumpers never look right on a car that's older than G reg.

I'm thinking that maybe I should restore it. As I'm sure lots of people are aware that these cars are getting far and few between and I'm it would probably re-coop it restoration cost should I come to sell it.

Not at all sure about that personally. But as another C-reg owner who's keeping it stock I'd say go for it
