Title: New car detail on the Edition 30
Post by: Altered Carbon on 30 April 2008, 14:36
Well, that's nearly a full week I've had the Edition 30 now, so thought I'd stick up a link to the new car detail which myself and Surferrosa from DW did at the weekend:

http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=68081

Luckily the weather was spot on for the work - couldn't have asked for better really! The Zaino want on really well and gives an excellent finish - all I need to do now is get another few coats on and then see how well the Jetseal will cope with keeping the alloys clean. I think the next time I'm doing them I'll take the wheels off though. I was literally under the car getting the rears of the alloys - trying to avoid losing fingers to that razor sharp metal trim thing behind the rear disks was fun!

I've also got some more pics - these were taken *before* the detail - couldn't wait to get out and get some nice pics of the car done! Will add these shortly! (Including pics of some glamourous birds with the car  )

Overall, I'm really really pleased with the car. Still running it in at the moment, but I know from the 24hr test drive of the dealers Ed30 how fast it is, so happy to put a few more miles on it before really exploiting the performance fully.

Cheers!

That is an unreal amount of work to clean a car. I want to get mine done but I can't find a local company

Whereabouts are you? If you check out the regional forums on DW you'll hopefully be able to find a detailer local to you.

It is a lot of work (think we spent about 16 hours in total on the car) but it means I can start from an excellent base to try and keep the car in as good a condition as possible. I figured given the money spent on a new car, plus the cash that's gone into products for keeping it looking minted, I'd try and start as I mean to go on!

Looks amazing. Crazy how badly prepped cars are from dealers when you see someone really spend some time on one.

I'll check on the site, cheers

Dealers haven't got a clue when it comes to preparing a brand new car. Im sure they just let the trainee mechanic loose on them with an oily rag and a pressure washer!! (when he's not out ragging customer's GTI's that is )

Car looks well minty Carbon

Do you get snow-blind detailing a white car???

Drop me a PM mate and I can put you in touch with John if you're thinking about it - wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

It is quite hard looking that closely at the car in the sun! I could see spots for a bit afterwards!

Thanks mate - I got a good deal as I was helping John out, plus using my products as well.

These are all prior to the detail - took my camera with me yesterday to get some 'afters' but after snapping away for a while, I realised there wasn't any CF card in the camera!  :embarassed:
