This is probably a post aimed at GolfVR6 or Modulater...
As you chaps know, I live in your neck of the woods (Walton), and ever since I've had my 'dub the clucth has been pants :(. It's still fitted with original VW clutch, which is not very smooth, and creaks when used. I've already snapped one cable, and had another fitted. It was better for a while, and then it reverted back to 'creak mode' ::). Clutch itself doesn't slip...and enagages smoothly.
I've put up with this for about 18 months, but have now decided I'd like to get it sorted.
I'm tempted to get a new clucth put in and a new 'NON self adjusting' cable fitted - I've heard the VW self adjusters are notoriously bad at seizing. etc.
So, what would you recommend and how much would you charge me for a new clutch 'n' cable to be fitted. I'm not really in to modding the car; would you recommend a standard VW clutch, or are there real advantages to going for a specialist after market job? I just want it to work correctly! :D
Also, how much would you charge to sort out my rattling heat shield at the same time - the old jubillee clip job! ;)
Cheers lads
Ed

Its probably not worth me or mod doing your clutch, as a garage will be better equipped.
We have done a couple and they do take all day if you do it outside your house :o
You could bring the car over or i could come over to you and have a look.
Is the pedal tight? if you keep eating from cables and they are good quality/proper fit then i suspect you have a very worn pressure plate.
Unfortunately that would mean a new clutch.
If you going to get the clutch done then don't go to wheelbase, as they are sh!t.

Thanks for the reply - I've used Wheelbase before and they are indeed w*nk.
Where would you recommend (that won't cost me the earth!)? I don't mind travelling a bit...
