ive got a 91 8v and a audi 90 scrapper with a 2.3 ... is it worth doing and does anyone know what it entails...
-
Don't think it would be a straight swap by any means mate, and i don't think i've ever heard of it being done before. Sure it is possible if you're willing to work at it though!
-
short answer if i remember correctly would be no.
mainly because the engine is transversely mounted in the audi. and i think the belts and pulleys are on the other side of the engine.

the engine is transversely mounted in the audi
Surely longitudinally mounted?
It's a very different set up.

Thats the puppy aye, i should know really seeing as i own one. :lipsrsealed:

To fit one, you would really need to hi-breed the car and make it into a rear wheel drive, but you would need a rear axle set up from a Rallye or a synchro. It would be a huge undertaking as undoubtadley, alot of cutting and shutting would also need to be done. BUT, you would have some serious fun in a rear wheel drive Golf II, with loads of torque. The 2.2 is actually a little more powerfull than the 2.3.

anythin is possible
Ive seen a mk2 GTI running a TVR v8 - Not the Orange MK1
but it MK2 doing some tarmac rallies in the north west , v8 roar and a sideways MK2 was always fun to watch
